You just edit the text on this polka dot votive candle wrap how ever you want (you can also change the font/font size/font color), then you print out however many you need, cut them out, and wrap them around a votive candle and secure them with double sided tape. Super simple DIY project.

Instructions for using these free printable black and white polka dots wedding votive candle wraps:

 
1. Download the free printable by clicking on the image below and then saving the pdf to your computer.
 
2. Open the pdf file using Acrobat Reader (it’s free).
 
3. You can then “click” to place your cursor in the text boxes to change the text.
 
4. If you want to change the font/font size/font color, press control-e on a PC or command-e on a Mac and a toolbar will pop up to let you edit.
 
5. Once you’ve finished your edits, print the file. Use vellum paper for best results. You will need to choose “Fit to printable area” in the under “page scaling” in the print settings for these to print out properly. It’s best to do a test print first and just cut them out to make sure they fit.
 
6. Cut out your votive candle wraps.
 
7. Wrap them around your votive candles. This works best with 2 x 2.5 inch votive candles with slightly angled glass.
 
8. Secure the wrap with double sided tape. It’s important to use double sided tape rather than glue, as the glue will likely unstick after a couple of hours of the candles being lit.
 
9. That’s it! You’re done!

I know I haven’t been posting in a while. I’ve been busy with designing, doing customer request custom designs, and running our small business! There is a ton of work to do when you run a small business such as ours. I still have to update our site here with all our lastest new designs, but I can’t seem to find the time. The basic idea remains intact, but today’s bridal showers span across many different themes. If you’re in charge of planning a bridal shower, you’d probably like it to be special, practical and fun. One of the first things to do is to choose coordinating invitations, announcements and recipe cards. It can be fun to select a recipe binder or recipe box that features the same basic design and color scheme as the invitations. Personalized recipe cards, announcements and invitations are a lot of fun, and you can even find personalized recipe binders as well. The bride-to-be will cherish these items as mementos, and you will have a blast browsing through the many stylish options that are available these days. Custom recipe binders can be put together like scrapbooks and feature photos of the happy couple, words of wisdom, and the recipes collected from the shower guests.

Preparing the Invitations For Your Recipe Themed Bridal Shower

To ensure that as many guests can attend the bridal shower as possible, try to mail out the invitations or announcements early. Include a recipe card with each invitation. Instruct each guest to fill out her favorite recipe on her card. To ensure that everything looks as stylish as possible, you might consider asking everyone to use the same color of ink. The goal is to end up with a selection of recipe cards that have coordinating designs and fairly uniform appearances. They will look much more appealing in the recipe binder that you present to the bride-to-be at the shower. But, this step is not necessary.

These days, many family recipes are posted online. If your bridal shower guest list is exceptionally large, you should divvy up the recipe cards into different categories. Send requests for main dish recipes to one group of women, and send requests for dessert recipes to another. You can also break them into categories like side dishes, soups and salads and beverages. The bride-to-be will be thrilled by the huge assortment of recipes that she receives, and she’ll appreciate the fact that she can create entire meals from ideas in her binder.

This will also give her the opportunity to ask questions if she has any. It will also help the guests decide which recipes they might want to collect themselves. Most importantly, it’s a whole lot of fun, and it is an easy, built-in way to provide food and refreshments for everyone and drum up conversations. A fun idea for entertainment during the bridal shower is to hand out index cards and have everyone jot down at least one or two special tips and tricks for a successful marriage. People always have words of wisdom they can provide the bride-to-be and these will become mementos that she can peruse for years to come. Or, have everyone jot down at least one or two special tips and tricks for the kitchen. Everyone has special little things that they do to keep their kitchens tidy or to produce the best results in the kitchen possible, and an event like this is the perfect opportunity to compile everyone’s best advice. The bride-to-be is sure to refer to these cards again and again as she sets up her own kitchen, and she’ll remember each person who contributed each suggestion.

Meal Plan Calendars

If she’s never prepared meals at home regularly before, the bride-to-be is sure to appreciate all of the advice that she can get. At the bridal shower, have a customized calendar available. Perhaps even a dry-erase version or a tear away notepad version. Using ideas from the collected recipe cards, as well as their imagination, encourage guests to fill it in with their favorite dinner menus. Whether a guest fills in one menu or several, the goal should be to fill in as much of the calendar as possible. Later, when the new bride is drumming up ideas for meals to prepare over the upcoming week, she can just flip open her calendar and take her pick from many excellent ideas.

A great bridal shower favor might be to provide the guests with small potted fresh herbs plants. You can get fresh herb plants for a good price and you can also generally find cute little plant pots for fairly cheap as well. In no time, the day of the bridal shower will arrive. The main reason to have a bridal shower is to get together and share advice about married life, and what better way to do so than by sharing tried-and-true recipes? The kitchen is the beating heart of any home, and this type of bridal shower will set the stage for a very happy household. We recently helped create the wedding stationery for Natalie and Josh’s tartan renaissance themed wedding. Natalie was kind enough to share with us some of the photographs from her real tartan wedding and she wrote some thoughts about her tartan wedding and why she chose the theme.

On December 4, 2008, my husband and I decided to renew our vows for our 15th year anniversary. Since we had eloped the first time I wanted a real wedding this time! When we thought of what to do for the wedding we knew right away it had to have kilts. My Aunt Fifi, who had passed away from Acute Leukemia in 2008, was like a second mom to me and really loved our Scottish side, and we loved going to renaissance festivals. While we where at the festival one year we talked to a lady at Wolfstone Kilt Company who made everything tartan related. The women in my family wore the plaid that My Aunt Fifi had found in a previous year to be our tartan. Then we looked up Josh’s family (who we don’t know how much scottish he really has, lol) and found his tartan. From then on everything was a go! I knew I wanted to look like a princess and still wanted to keep with the theme so after purchasing a regular wedding dress, I had the same company, Wolfstone Kilt Company, custom make me an over dress that went fabulous with our theme.

Everything turned out great and all the guests loved the original theme. We even played celtic music for walking down the aisle. The wedding was held at Daniels Vineyard in Crab Orchard, WV. The ceremony was under a pavilion and I wasn’t sure if I would hear the music or if the weather would hold out but in fact the music echoed throughout the mountainous area and even though the day before had been chilly, the day of our wedding was beautiful. Every one loved the song choices for the ceremony and the location. We used music from our favorite celtic group called The Medieval Babes. Everything was perfect, we even made sure our flowers and cake stuck with the rustic but elegant feel of the wedding! Don’t be afraid to think out of the box. We think Natalie did a great job putting her tartan renaissance wedding together. The mix of different tartans is really a unique idea and they go great together. Her dress was in a perfect celtic renaissance style. The flowers and cake were a great complement to the theme as well. Rustic, yet elegant, in deep rich colors. The Vineyard setting for the ceremony also adds to the renaissance theme and the choice of an outdoor wedding is very reminiscent of old celtic handfasting ceremonies. From Wikipedia:

Handfasting is an ancient Celtic ceremony of (temporary or permanent) betrothal or wedding that dates back to pre-Christian times and usually involves the tying or binding of the hands of the bride and groom with a cord or ribbon.

Picking out wedding invitations is one of a brides’s most exciting duties. Invitations can be found in almost any color and design style imaginable. For many couples, picking out invitations that express their unique personalities is important. Many brides and grooms have moved away from the super-traditional wedding invitation wording of times past, opting for more modern versions of timeless sentiments.

Writing the text for a wedding invitation can be a challenging task. You want to express your personality while demonstrating good etiquette and communicating essential information. For many modern brides, wedding invitations will be complemented by a wedding website that also provides guests with information about the event, venue and couple.

When deciding on wedding invitation wording, there are a number of factors that must be taken into consideration. You’ll need to decide if you want to include a reception insert card and how you would like to collect RSVPs. In order to make the most of the invitation selection process, be sure that you have an excellent idea of the overall look and feel of your wedding itself prior to ordering invitations.

Invitations 101: The Basics

A wedding invitation is designed to announce your upcoming marriage and to inform guests of the date, time and venue for your wedding. As such, your wedding announcement should include brief, general information about you and your partner as well as information about the big day itself. Both traditional and contemporary wedding invitations include this information. Modern brides should feel free to pick fun, interesting invitations that reflect their personalities and sense of style. There is no right or wrong when it comes to the colors and styles to use for wedding invitations.

When picking invitations, it is important to decide if you need to include a card with information about your reception, known as a reception insert. Such cards should be included if your reception will be held in a venue different than that of your wedding. Of course, you can choose to include a reception insert even if the ceremony and reception will be held in the same place. Many couples use these cards to provide directions and lodging information to out-of-town guests.

You’ll also need to decide how you’re going to collect RSVPs. You may wish to do so with traditional RSVP inserts, which will require that you include a stamped, addressed return envelope for guest convenience. You can also collect RSVPs via a wedding website, email or telephone. How you collect RSVPs is up to you, but it’s important that you keep your guest profile in mind. Some guests may not be Internet savvy; it’s important to include RSVP cards or a phone number for these guests.

Invitation Wording: Who’s Paying for The Big Day?

After you’ve gotten the invitation basics out of the way, you’ll have to decide on the wording to be used in your invitations. Many brides have moved away from stuffy, traditional phrasing and use contemporary language and wording in their wedding invitations. One of the biggest factors you have to take into consideration when deciding upon invitation wording is who is paying for, or hosting, the wedding.

If both the bride’s and groom’s parents are sharing the costs of the big day, it is good etiquette to include their names in the invitation. If only the bride’s or only the groom’s parents are paying, it is customary to list that couple. If the bride and groom are paying, they can choose to include the names of their parents or adopt a different route. The following examples provide basic guidance regarding invitation wording in these situations. Some couples will want to include the names of their parents even if they aren’t paying, which is perfectly acceptable.

If you and your spouse-to-be are paying for the wedding, you may wish to adopt a more creative approach to invitation wording. Creative Approaches to Invitation Wording

Perhaps you want to move away from basic invitation wording and come up with something really creative. You should feel free to use your imagination when composing your wedding invitation. After all, this is your wedding. You are free to word the invitation in whatever way you’d like.

The following examples are designed to provide ideas for couples that want to get creative with their invitation wording. If you’re at a loss for ideas, think of any special hobbies that the two of you share. Perhaps you bonded over a special movie or song. It’s a great idea to use such material when creating invitation wording.

Incorporating Timeless Verses, Quotes and Poems in An Invitation

If you want to craft an original invitation but don’t have a talent for creative writing, you can use timeless verses, poems and quotes in your invitation. You’ll be able to find many such poems by looking through your old school textbooks and searching the Internet. You can choose a Shakespearean sonnet or a lesser-known poem to add that extra touch of romance to your invitations.

Brides who want to keep their wedding invitations light, fun and contemporary may also wish to quote favorite song lyrics or movie lines. Is there a song that your friends and family will immediately associate with you and your spouse-to-be? Using a line from a favorite song is a great way to craft a funky, original invitation that your guests are sure to enjoy.

Couples who want to retain a touch of the traditional or who share a strong religious faith may wish to include verses from the Torah, Bible, Koran or other religious text. You can use a favorite verse that you share as a couple or pick a classic verse that has traditionally been used on wedding invitations. What matters is that you express your faith and personality.

After you’ve decided on the wording for your wedding invitations, you’ll have the pleasure of picking out a great font and graphics or images that you may want included. Orchids are beautiful and elegant flowers. Grown around the world, there are somewhere between 22,000-26,000 accepted species of orchid! That is an incredible number. Twice the number of known bird species and four times the number of known mammal species. Many of these species are grown in tropical environments, as well as in Asia.

Orchids are revered for their delicate beauty and their exotic character. The symbolic meanings of orchids are varied and include a universal message of love, beauty, wisdom, thoughtfulness, luxury, and strength. Great symbolism for a wedding.

The lighter pink Cymbidium orchid variety has a particularly soft and romantic feel. It’s additional symbolic meaning is “pure affection”. It’s a larger sized orchid, making it perfect for wedding bouquets as well as boutonnières, corsages, center pieces, and other floral arrangements. It makes a nice flower on a wedding cake as well. It is versatile enough to form the basis of a wedding in any season, because of the variety of shades within the flower.

We’ve created a color palette out of this beautiful flower. The colors in this palette are:

• #9a3056 - deep berry, purple wine, or burgundy
• #899639 - olive green
• #e7c0c5 - ice pink
• #d98695 - carnation or rose petal pink
• #ebce7b - buttercup yellow

Colors also have symbolic meanings. For example, pink is a calming color thought to represent femininity and romance. The deeper shades add a bit of drama and represent passion. Yellow symbolizes cheerfulness and optimism. Green, a very popular color with both women and men, represents health, vitality, nature and fertility. It is also a relaxing color.

All taken together, this pink Cymbidium orchid color palette and theme represents all the positive aspects of love and romance. And it does this in an elegant, luxurious way without being overly bold or sedate. Depending on how much of the wine color you use in the wedding will make it more or less suitable for particular seasons. Add in more touches of the wine color, and this theme works well for both winter and fall. Add in less wine and use more of the green and yellow and you’ve got a nice recipe for a spring or summer wedding.

It’s a gorgeous orchid cascade cake! Very beautiful. The soft colors and two varieties of orchids really makes for a lovely wedding cake.

We found this Strawberry Farms Rustic Love | Vintage Themed Wedding Photography blog post on Bethany Belle featuring a real wedding utilizing many of the colors in our pink Cymbidium orchid wedding color palette. The wedding and the wedding party looked fantastic. The groom and groomsmen in grey really worked well with this theme.

We also found some great wedding bouquets that are showcase this color palette well. Here are some of the choices that we found.

This is a lovely Cymbidium orchid and Calla lily bouquet. It features the colors in our theme, leaning more towards the pinks.

This one is showcasing a darker style and would work really well for an autumn or winter wedding. Emphasizing the wine color really brings out the drama. But, this theme is very versatile and you can lighten it up as well for spring or summer weddings. Add in some pale yellow, a few more greens, and more of the lighter pink and you’ve got a great look for a spring or summer wedding. Or, leave it as is and go with rose petal pink colored bridesmaid dresses to lighten up the overall look for spring or summer.

Below is a lovely pink, green, and white “real wedding” bouquet we found on magnetstreet.com. It also features the colors in our theme, leaning more towards a lighter overall version that looks very soft and romantic and would fit spring or summer weddings well.

Also from magnetstreet.com, we found these “real wedding” images of a bouquet and wedding details. This incorporates more of the green and adds in a little purple. It has a spring or summer feel.

David’s bridal has a wonderful selection of bridesmaid dresses that would fit well with this theme. In particular, their Wine and Rose Petal colors are a beautiful fit. Here’s an example of couple of different styles featuring these colors.
